Michael Kramer

Producer / Recording Engineer / Drummer / Vocalist

Michael Kramer is a freelance producer, engineer and musician working and living in Los Angeles.

Raised in Laguna Beach, California, Michael began his musical journey playing drums in the 4th grade and gradually became involved in all aspects of the performing arts. His interests and studies included jazz, pop and classical performance, vocal jazz and choral singing, and theatre arts – as an actor as well as an instrumentalist.

As a self-taught recording engineer, he cut his teeth recording his own bands as well as other bands in the area and after time became well known for his powerful rhythm section sounds. A disciple of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Foreigner and Queen, Michael drummed and sang his way through high school and college, absorbing jazz, R & B, fusion and classical as well.

In 1984, Michael moved to Los Angeles and began playing and recording with a number of rock and pop bands, which included touring nationally as an opening act for such names as Kenny Loggins, Eddie Money and Pat Travers.

Combining his engineering talents with his musical experience, he soon segued into producing. Among his many credits are two critically praised albums by Hollywood surf/exotica band The Blue Hawaiians. In addition, Michael has had many of his productions placed in television and film, with credits including “The Tao of Steve,” “Black Sheep,” “The Andy Richter Show,” as well as a Clio award-winning Guess? Jeans commercial.

Michael currently splits his time between the studio and live performance, and lives with his wife Kathy, also a professional musician, in Sherman Oaks, California.
